PENINSULA.
August 6.— Tlie, monthly meeting of the Tomahav»kßoad Board' was held on Saturdty at the board's office, and was attended by Me^rs W. Stewart (chairman), A. Smtil, J. Mathieson, W. Henderson.J. C. Miller, J. E. 'Dooley. The surfaceman was instructed to clean water tabeS and culverts and i-pre*d nietnl at once, also to finish the,work near Mr Djoley's. A letter was read from Mr W.,Oo\veu drawing attfntion to the bad btate of the road from Mr Cowen's'gate to the HijhcHff boundary. It was decided that the road be surfaced and about 15 yards of metal procured for the centre of the road when it is dry. A letter was read from Miss Robertson statiDg that the culvert at the entrance to her property was choked, also .that the road fronting Mr Robertson's was in a bad state. It was decided to put the road in a state of repair when it was dry, but the board could not deal with the culvert as it was a private entrance. The chairman was authorised to procure 20 yards of 2>}-inch metal from the quarry on the new road. It was resolved to pay coutributions to charitable aid and hospital. Monthly accounts were passed for payraent for £20 15s 7d. Road Closed.— A meeting of ratepayers in the Peninsula road dispute was held on Saturday at the board's office, Hi?hcliff. Mr Alexander Stuart was appointed chairman. As no objectors were present the r^iad through section 63, block 11, as shown on the plan, was declared closed. Peninsula Road Board.— The monthly meeting of this Board was then held at the hoard's office, and was attended by Messrs Stuart (chairman), F.irbairn, ltowp, M'Curdy, Robe tson, and Murray. Mr. Weiper appeared before the hoard, stating that the road at Sandymount had slippel several feet. Left to the members for Sandymount to deal with. A letter fruni Mr Weiper (truitee in the rstate of the Lite G. Fleming) re road at the Cliffy, was received. Mr'T. Begg appeared before the bo ml with the plin o f a road proposed to be taken over by the board. Tha board approved of the chaiunan's action in connectiou therewith, the board to take over the road in B*yfield estate when put in a state of repair by Bcgg Bros., as shown pink in tbe plan, submitted. Mr J. Mathieson petitioned the board to put in 9-inch pipes to carry the water dowa the tnuin road frouting Silverton. To stand over till next meeting for further consideration. Mr Brookes appeared to ask the board to take over into the Peninsula district the portion of the Tomnhawk district lying between the Anderson's Bay district and the Sandhills. Resolved that the r-oard did not approve of the proposal. Mr W. F. KtTmqnd wrote drawiDg attentioi to the water running down the Manse road, near his property, at Sk-il Hill. The chairman was authorised to call on Mr Edmond with regard to this matter. It was decided to put six to eight yardi of meUl on Shand's road at Highcliff*. It was resolved to pay tho contribution to the Charitable Aid and Hospital Board monthly. Accounts were passed for payment for £92 13i 7d.
