The amount offered for competition -will again be EIGHTEEN V GUINEAS, Divided into THREE PHIZES, thus: — First - Ten Guineas Second - Five Guineas Third » Three Guineas The Judging "will be placed in thoroughly competent hands, and the awards will be published as soon after the close of the competition as possible. Unsuccessful competitors will have their MS. eetubnbd to them as soon as the awards are announced. EULES OF THE COMPETITION. Competing tales not to contain less than 12,000 words, or, say, two pages of the "Witness. All MS. to be either type-written op legibly written in ink, on one," side of the paper only. No restriction whatever is made as to the selection of the plot, but all else 'being equal a preference would probably being given to a tale of New Zea« land or Australian life. All MS. to have a norn de'plumt attached, and to be accompanied by a sealed envelope addressed to^ the Editor, and containing the writer* name and the norn deplitme attached to the MS. This envelope will remain unopened until the receipt of the awards from the judge. All tales to be original and the bona fide work of the writer.
