The Christian delegate to the Assembly has resigned. , July 7» The Powers are urging Greece to prevent the shipment of arms to Crete, and to advise the inhabitants to desist from defying Turkey. A number of the leading rebels are disposed to discuss a modification of the Aleppo Convention, July 8. Tbe Times considers that the Oanea decision is satisfactory, and says that the consuls have now advised that negotiations for peace will ba entered on on the basis of the Haleppa Convention. i Athens, July 8, The insurgent ohiefs have informed the consuls that the Cretans and Christians have .a unanimous desire to possess their interest, and that the Assembly are prepared to adopt the proposed reform?, July 9. The Cretan Christians demand economic autonomy, they paying tribute to the Porte, and the appointment of a Christian Governor who shall have the right to veto the project* of the Assembly.
