The Portuguese Governor is landing a force of marines to proteot the Beira railway.
News has been received that the telegraph line between Fort Salisbury and Umtall has been out by the rebels.

It is estimated that the claim* against the British South Africa Chartered Company by farmers and others owing to the Matabele rising will amount to £200,000.
la the House of Assembly Sir G. Sprigg, the Premier, said they must" recognise the effect of the Rhodesia revolt on- the natives at the Cape. As war was possible they must refuse to send the Mounted Riflss to Rhodesia, fearing that they might be wanted in Cape Colony. 4
There is much discontent in Rhodesia at Mr Rhodes'fl removal. Many Boar settlers threaten to leave if he goes.
The powder escort reached Fort Charter safely, bub had some sharp fighting with the nativeß.
The Buluwayo field force is disbanded. It is intended to replace ib by 1000 police. The friendly natives are, however, still very restless.
London, June 30. Mr Chamberlain states that the military authorities advisad the Government not to employ Indian soldiers against tbe Masbonas, as tbe natives would regard them as a confeßsion of the weakness of the whites. The Government were, however, sending a battalion of the King's Rifles to the Cape.
It is reported that three Australians have been killed by tho M&tabeles at a place some 20 miles north of Fort Salisbury.
The rising of. the Mashonas is said to be spreading to the various posts held by Portuguese on the Zambesi, and ib is stated that a brother of Dr Jameson's was killed. July 2. Sir Hercules Robinson is ill, and it 1b feared he will be unable to return to the Capo. July 3. The Chronicle states that Nyaminda, a sou of the late Lobeuguela, has been installed King of Matoppo.
