FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
Perth, July 1. •-
A serious railway accident happened on the Great Eastern lino. It was at first re* ported that several parsons had been kilted, but it is now found the accident,' though attended by fatal results, was not so serious as at first thought. Twenty heavily laden waggons, together with a guard's van and a passenger carriage, broke away from a mixed train at Leon mild station. The only passengers were Messrs James Morgan and, John Fawkner. Ou breaking loie, the runaway train travelled at the rate of. about 60 miles an hour for nine milesr. Urgent messages were sent along to keep the line clear, and though this was done ono train only just managed to get into a siding before the runaway oame touring along. The httor subsequently cam* to griet at a curve, being wrecked complexly, Mr Morgan was killed instantaneously, «hila " Fawkner was badly injured. Seven hor-esitt the waggons were killed.
