TESTIMONIAL TO MR J. G. WARD.

(Fjrom Opb Own Cohrkspondent.) Ikveecasgiu,, July 6. -At a meeting of the friends of Mr J. G._ Ward this afternoon ifc was decided to inaugurate a testimonial of a national character $o be presented to him as a mark of sympathy, the whole of the funds to be devoted to the benefit of Mrs Ward and family. Over 200 guineas were subscribed in tbe room. Local committees were appointed, and great enthusiasm is being displayed.

Mr Ward has deceived' the following from the secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Riilway Servants of New • Zealand :— " The Executivo Committee of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants of New Zealand beg to tender their sympathy with your troubles, md to waura you that they feel every confidence in your *bility and honesty of. purpose to still further 'serve the interest of New Zealand and its workers."
