The Wanganui Tournament.
TO THE DRAUGHTS EDITOR. Sir,— A word about tho New Zealand championship. I whs surprised to see Mt Montgomery write and say that the letters signed "Jockey" and 'Mi. Brown " flowed from one source ; and I think you should state whether R. Brown did write, his letter and also did " Jockey " come from Riccarton. I rmut congratulate Brodie on the stand he took re the Waoganui tourney. He won the championship off Borehum, and I was in the room when it was agreed that before any tonrney took place they had f o a-k Bvodie for his written consent to play for his title. Instead of doing this tho Wsnganui players thought it best to write and abiwe him in the Weekly Press. Any player would ask for expenaos after the way they -treated him. Hoping you will correct Mr Montgomery t& " JockeyV and R. Brown's letters.— l am, &C, Maheno, June 27. W. J. Frew. [There was really nothing in Mr Montgomery's letter calling for contradiction, but to satisfy Mr FreVs query we can state that both letters referred to were Sana fide..— Dr. Ed.]
