Problems intended for competition may now be sent in. Not move than two will be accepted from each composer. The competition is for.threamove problems only. All problems of which the envelope beats a post mark dated not later than August 31 ensuing will be accepted. The" competition is not limited to New Zealand composers, but compositions from abroad will be accepted it received in time. Prizes will be awarded as in the competition just closed. Solvers will be 'awarded 3 points for correct solutions, 3 points for a " cook," (of which only oue in each problem will be credited), and 5 points for proof that the problem is not original or has been already published.

Problems intended for competition must be clearly diagrammed, and the position given in the Forsyth notation alto. Full solutions must accompany the problems. All problems sent In will be published in the OTder in which they are received. Solvers are invited to forward criticisms on the problems, which criticisms will also be published.

Each problem must bs distinguished by a motto, and the composer's mmc forwarded in a sealed envelope, not to be opened until after adjudication. Competent judges will be appointed to determine the relative merits of the competing problems, but solvers are also invited to indicate their opinions of the merits of competing problems by awarding marks, of which' 10 points may be taken as the maximum..
