WELLINGTON NOTES.
Bt Onlookhb.
July 6. The statement that Mr J. O. Hayward was bringing out a St. Simon horse turns out to .bo correct. He arrived yesterday with Gold Reef . (particulars of whom " Mazeppa " gave last week) , and Soult, a five-year-old brown horse by St. Simon from Beauharuais, by Seesaw— Josephine, by Irish . Birdcatcher — Inheritress, by The Saddler. He is a brown with a white star, stands about 15hds 3in, and has a coac ticked with grey hairs. His maternal granddam Inheritress was a great performer, and won numerous race 3, including several Queen's Plates. Soult was a fail 1 performsr. Mr Hayward wants to lease Soult, and it is uot unlikely that he will fill Blairgowrie'a place in Mr A. Walters's Papakura stud. Gold Reef is a bay standing about lflhd», and did not land so fresh as Soult on account of not , having laid down throughout the journey. If not so stylish as bin mate, he is rather a fino , horse with plenty of size and substance, and may probably take up stud duties in theManawatt* district.
