The chief feature of the-auction at Burnslde to-day was the large attendance of visitors from! ihe country, who watched proceedings with much interest. (Limited) - report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Thursday, the 4th inst. The demand for wether* (for turnips) and lambs was active, and no difficulty was experienced in selling the \vhol« entry, consisting of 1500 sheep, under the hammer. Forwurd conditioned, crossbred wethers brought from 10s 6d to 13s, half bred do 19s, lambs Ss 6d to 7s <Jd, crosabied ewes 8s lid. Grain.— Oats : At the weekly auctions on Monday last there was a want of eagerness on the part of buyeis, Awhile offerings were fairly large. The immediate outlook is somewhat uncertain, - but with -stocks getting low on the other side it is anticipated that considerable shipments will shortly be made and values in consequence maintain the present level. Sheepskins.— All' coming forward are well com•pßted fur at prices lately ruling, and until the wool market shows an advance values will probably remain steady at lute quotation^. Tues- • day's prices were as follow : Green crossbreds, 2s'4d to 3s 5d ; do merinos, Is lid to 2s 3d ; dry merinos, Is 7d to 3s lOd; do cross breds, 2a to 5s 4d ; do pelts, 4d to Is 3d. 'Hides continue in brisk demand, all coming forward being readily placed. Prime heavy, 2Jd to 3d per lb ; medium, 2d to 2Jd ; light, ttd^to l}d ;- inferior, Id to lid. • Tallow remains unchanged, last week's quotations being readily obtainable. Prime rendered, 16a to 18s per cwt : medium, 13s to 15s ; inferior, ■ 12s to 13s ; rough fat, 9s to 12s.
