The character of the present Czn* is thus fully find impartially summed up by his mother the Dowager Czarina :—: — " He is energetic but melancholy, and a little timid. He could be entrusted with' the gc eatoat score!;!!', for he is reserved in his worJs and acts, and ia always prudent. Ho is disposed to be sentimental, aud has considerable imagination. Religiously, ha has ft tendency towards mysticism. He is exceedingly attached to his ' own family and friends, and when with them he is confiding, and enjoys laughing and joking with his iufci mates. "He is exceedingly tender, very observing, and possesses actiatic tastes. Wh>lo hi has energy of mind, he is physically not very active. He ia rather slow to resolve upon any action, but when the resolution is made ho is difficult to move. He is not combative ; he is an enthusiast on the subject of justice ; he is susceptible to pity, open to oleraency, and hAS a disposition to make people love him rather than fear him."
