DUNEDIN FANCIERS' CLUB.
The fortnightly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Fanciers' Club was held in Mr .Myers's rooms on the Ist mat., and attended by Messrs Kerr, Howrth, Hides, Williams, A. Mathews, Brown, Sfcratton, P. Aitken, Cameron, M'lndoe, and Ferguson. Mr Cameron was voted to the chair. Apologies were received from Messrs Jowitt and Myers for their absence. After the correspondence (vrhioh was of an unimportant nature) had been read, a discussion took place on the practice of exhibitors bringing birds, &o. into the show room for the purposes of sale without paying the usual commission to the club, and Mr Kerr moved that' all birds, &o. brought into the showrooms for sale be charged Is each ; that the term "exhibit "means a single entry, except where otherwise specified. Mr Hides seconded the motion, which was carried. A very strong opinion was expressed on the custom as being manifestly unfair and unjust to the club, It was resolved to advertise the date (June 20) for j dosing entries in the Qfcago Witneis« Christ*
church Press, and New Zealand Hail (Wellington). Mr A. Cowie was proposed and unanimously eleoted a vipe-presideut of the club. The Secretary reported that he had seen Mr Scott, nho had consented to judge the canary section of the show. On the motion of Mr Williams it was decided to add two more olasses in the pigeon section of the schedule, being for feathery-legged tumblers (any other colour, cock or hen), aad the same kind under 12 months (cook or hen) ; and it was explained that it was only the young pigeons entered for competition which have to wear the New Zealand Pigeon Association's 1895-96 ring. Mr Cameron at this stage intimated that he had another engagement, and wished to retire. A hearty vote of thanks was awarded him for his conduct in the chair, and Mr Ferguson was appointed to fill his place. The Chairman reported the result of the meeting of the association which he had recently attended in Christohuroh, which generally was regarded, of a satisfactory nature, and said that he had been strongly advised whilst there to suggeafc to this committee the great advisability of having all exhibits penned on the evening previous to the show. A vote of thanks was acoorded to him for his report. Mr Aitken moved, and it was unanimously resolved, that tho seoretary write a letter to Mr R. Brownlia sympathising with him in his affliction caused, by the accident which had befallen him. The Secretary desired that all collecting cards for speoial prizes should ba returned td him before Monday next. In future it was resolved to meet weekly instead of fortnightly, and the committee then adjourned.
