Messrs MonmsoN and "Hopkin, Dunedin, report (wholesale)- as follows for week ending June 8, 1896. All quotations subject to market fluctuations :— Business during the week haß been' very.gopd. We have inquiry, for Danish and long Tartarians for seed purposes. We would also, ask farmers ' When sending samples always to put a pi ice on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers. Wheat is firmer, with good inquiry. Wo quote best velvet 33 lOd to 3a lid : best Tuscans, 3s 7d to 3s 8d; red chaff, 3s 6<l to 3b 6d ; fowls' wheat, 2a lOd to 3s. Oats : Prime milling, up to 2s Id; bright short feed, la lOd to Is 10* d; ordinary feed, Is 9d. Barley : Feed sorts are quoted 2s 2d to 2s 4d; malting, from 3s 6d to 4a. Rye corn, 2s 1 3d to 2s 9d. Flour: We quote £9 10s. Oatmeal in 25'». JEII. Peart barter, £12 10a. Bran, £3 10s. Pollard, £i 10s. Nelson hops: New season's on the market, and are quoted at 9jd to lOd. We just landed 20 bales from Nelson. Potatoes : Derwents, from 55s to 57s fid for prime. Chaff: Good quality, welt-cut oaten sheaf, £2 12s 6d to JE2jss ; extra good, £2 17s 6d— £3 is quoted, but it is very hard to get it. Ryegrass : Farmers' Jots, 2s to 2s lOd ; machined,^ 3d to 4s, Cocksfoot, 3d to 3}d for 161b seed. We have a big demand, and did large buaiueEß during the week, tanseed : New crop not to hand yet. Pressed Btraw, 32s 6d. Clover hay, £3. We receive rabbitskins,-- hides, sheepskins, and tallow, and return highest market values. Hides wanted, at 2Jd to.Sd per lb for good quality. We have sold this week a large quantity of hides »ud.fikina at satisfactory prices, and have a good demand to supply for orders. We hold weekly eales. Corns&cks, Keedsacks, woolpacke, and seamiDg twine at market rates. Crown sbeep dip, in sgal drums, 5s 6d per gallon ; In larger quantities, 5s per gallon. llabbitskins.— We have to report having held our sale on Monday, prices being much about the same as last week. We quote : Summers, 5Jd to Bd'; autumns, 7d to lOd ; prime winters, 10|d to 12-Jd ; blacks, lOd to 13d. Sheepskins. — We have to report having held our weekly sale on Tuesday. Skins are coming in more freely, and prices on the _whole jvere very good. The bidding was spirited, former prices being well sustained. We quote f ull•woolled merino, 4Jd to 5Jd per lb; halfwoolled merino, 4d to 4£d ; prime full-woollei crossbred, sid to 6Jd; half-wodlled crossbred, 4d to sd ; green lamb skins, best, 2a 9d to 3s ; medium, Is 9d to 2s 6d ; short and pelts, 2}d to 4d. Butcher skins : Full-woolled, 3s 2d to 3a 7d ; short and pelts, 7d to Is 6d. Hci-seWr, Is to Is Sid. We shall have much pleasure again this year in throwing our premises open for fanners to inspect our seed-cleaning plant in fall working order during the winter show. FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT. Butter i Salt— Good quality is saleable at BJd to 9d per lb. We have good inquiry for prime quality. Cheese : GoodAkaroa, 3}d to 4d ; factory, 4Jd. Figs : 3d for Utod quality. Beeswax wanted. Is to Is Id per Ib. Poultry received for sale any days but Saturdays. Fruit : Sydney oranges, ss ; Island oranges, 6s. Apples— Taamanlan French crabs, Us; scarlet pearmaiu, 12s.

Fruit. — Dessert apples, 7s 6d to 8s 3d ; cookers, 5s 6d to 7s 3d ; cooking pears, 4s 6d ; tomatoes, 3s 6d ; onions, 7s per cwt ; inferior quality, 5s 6d ; winter Nelis pears, 3id to 4d per Business generally haa been excellent during th» past month, aud so far there ia every indication that it will keep so ; others are complaining but we speak as we find it, and although there is a great deal of talk about the good times that are being experienced elsewhere, we think little New Zealand, and Otago especially, is as good as anywhere eke. Things are not booming certainly, but trade is steady and the unemployed but few, and with the revival of the mining industry, which will certainly come soon, we shall see everything _prospsrou9. We may mention that the alterations to our showrooms arc -now complete. We cordially invite anyone to inspect the improvements.
