RONGAHERE.

June I.— A very enjoyable night was spent in the schoolhouse here on thu 29th ult. Dancing, varied with, songs by several of those present, was spiritedly kept up till 3.30 a.m. to excellent music provided by Messrs J. and A. Fyfe (violins), who also acted alternately as M.O.'s. Tea, with a plentiful supply of sandwiches and pastry, was twica handed round at intervals. Despite the muddy roads, a Rood many visitors were present from Tuapeka Mouth— a four-mile WHlk. It was a fine clear night, and every one seemed to enjoy the meeting. Signs of Progress.— Though living in an out-of-the-way pVtce, we are quietly coming to the front. The twine binder is in the district now, and Messrs Blakie'n mill was humming thiß morning at 3 o'clock. There will be a few boatloads of oats and chaff to go from here - that is, if the steamer can come up this far. School.— -Misß Main is well pleased with her fine-looking school and her Bcholarn. Not afraid of work, she is wishing she had a few more— a wish which will, I hope, be gratified when the spring days return.

Land.— We could do with a few more neighbours also. Intending f>ettl<'r« will find some cheap land here and plenty of fiiewood.
