SOUTH LAND LAND BOARD.

The usual meeting, held on Tuesday, May 26, wa3 attended by Messrs C. Cowan (in«the I chair), A. Kinross, and A. Baldey. Robert Young was granted permission to cut timber on section 7, block VIII, Makarevra, for 12 months ; at the expiration of that time to apply for a further extension. The New ' Zealand Agricultural Company applied for a lease of Run £07 for 10 years.— The Government to bo recommended to offer same at 2d per acre, and to alter the classification to pas- , toral run. A. R. Hare surrendered license of Run 415 a, ; part of which is held by Haldea and Awdry, in order that adjustment of boundaries may be effected, and requested cxteasiou of remainder of run to him for five years.— The Minister for Lands to be recommended to grant extension, as it is desirable to have Iba leases expiring at the same i time. I Mr Joseph Stock wrote stating that D. A. I Cameron was nob disposed to accep- extension of lhenso of Runs 421 a, 359, 398, and 447 without reduction iv rent.— To be informed that if not surrendered the old leases arc -to remain ; also, that it is the opinion'of the Minister for Landa that the rent is not excessive in proportion to the stock carried • Mra M. Applications for land : Richard Falkinew, section 43, block I, Waikawa ; Thomas Gilroy and John Moffett, run No. 516, Stewart Island ; -Charles Newfcown, section 27, block VII, Longwood ; Robert Coupland, section 86, block VII. Invercargill Hundred ; Ernest Brown, section 37, block VI, New River Hundred : J. A. Thornton, section 4, block IV, Aparima Hundred ; George and William Playfair, section 45. block 111, Wyudham ; Elizabeth Haldane sections 45 and 46, block I, Waikawa ; W. Reynolds, Bectious 32 and 34, block XXII, Invercargill Hundred ; and Robert Sutherland, section 29, block X, Waiau. In the absence of the chief commissioner several matters weie held over, and the board adjourned.
