In reply to the telegram forwarded by the local secretary of the Brunner Relief Committee the Premier wired en the 12th :—": — " A l&rge nu/aber of d'lt-gates have b.»en nominated, and some are on their way to attend the conference to bi held on the 14th Under the circumstances the conference will be held, and I see no good purpose can be served by delay. — R. J. Sbddon, Wellington." The Mayor of Wellington also telegraphed to Mr Graham iv these terms:—" Wellington Committee to-day decided to send two delegates to the meeting convened by Premier for the 14th "
At a general meeting of the Napier Brunner Relief Fund Committee Mr John Dv hip, of Wellington, was appoiuted to represent Napier at the Conference of the Relief Committees ab Wellington. The balauce elfceb showed that £938 19s 5d had been subscribed in Napier.
The collection in the County of Brace amounted to £145. exclusive of £25 roll>-c*ed at the Milto-i t 3 <e-byb>-ri*u Church.
The K*ikorai Band's concert on Sunday realised £11 lls ia aid of the relief fund. The attendance was a record one for the Botanical Gardens.
A Cbmtchurch -telegram stfctee that the amount of Canterbury subscriptions, now in the hands of the local treasurer, is £6303 12V 9d.
The Premier has received £100 for the Brunaer fuud from Kslgoorlie, Western Australia. The remitter says that there is great sympathy among the miners .there, who expect to nite £500,
Crojcwkll. May 15. Our Cromwell correspondent telegraphs :— ■ " The Cromwell Brunner relief fundamounti to £51 neb, which will be increased by £3 or £* more. This inoludcs contributions from Bend'gi, Tarras, and Lowburn. The committee appointed Mr W. Frasec as their delegate, and passed a resolution in favour of vesting the fund in the Public Trustee."
