NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT. Sydeny, May 12.
" The Speech from the Throne at the opening Of Parliament is expeoted to be of considerable length, and it is anticipated that it will embody the policy enunciated by the Premier (Mr Bold). One of the subjects receiving early attention will be the construction of light railways, also the introduction of a measure for the extension of the Chinese Restriction Act to other coloured races. A bill to facilitate the resumption of large estates for the purpose of promoting closer settlement will be brought down, and, while Parliament will not ba invited to deal comprehensively with local govern mant, a palliative in the shape of improvement in the municipal laws and providing for municipal loans .under Government guarantee will be introduced. Parliament was opened this afternoon by - the Governor with tbe usual ceremony. Tbe Governor, in bis Speech, referred in sympa- . thetic terms to the death of Sir Henry Paike*, and expressed a belief that the attendance of all-Jbe colonies at the Federal Convention was assuied. . Otherwise the Bpeech was on the lines of the forecast : given above. , ;
