THE MINISTER FOR LANDS AT RANGIORA. Rangiora, May 12.

The Hon. J. M'KeDzie, who is on a four days' visit to North Canterbury, addressed a crowded meeting at Rangiora to-night. Mr T. K«r (mayor) was in the chair. The Minister, who met with a cordial reception, spoke two and a-half hours, refuting the OppoaiHou statements, particularly those by Mr Allen made recently at Milton to the Btuce electors. Ho dealt fully with most of the main political questions, outlining future legislation proposals in the shape of a Fair Rent Bill, a public auditor for companies' accounts, the abolition of special jurie3, and Sta'e fire insurance. These were heartily applauded by the audience. The applause throughout the meeting was freqnenb and hearty, and at the clo3e a vote of thanks to the speaker and confidence in the Government was carried with but one dissentient.
