Why Not went off in front of Manifesto, March Hare, Rsdhill, Barcalwhey, and Dollar 11. The second rauk consisted of Roiy O'More, Father ] O'Flynn, Clawson, Mits Biron, ai\d Cauatio, the last flva being Mids-hipmite, Phiiacteiy, Wild Man from Borneo, Emm, and Wesnn«nh. The grief ccimmenced early, as at thu first rise Manifesto foil and btouglit down Redhill, who went on ridcricsp,; causing no little confusion. The command was now assumed by Alphcus, and he quickly took a clear lead from Rory O'ltfore, Olawson, Why Not, and Caustic to Beecher's Brook, where R .ry O'More wan still Be ond from Why Not, Mai-cli Hare, and Clawson, the last four being St. Anthony, Wild Man from Borneo, The Miitshipmite, and Weatnieath. Aloug the canul Bide collision with Barcalwhey caused Wild Man from Borneo to lose his balance, and Emm' aIBO came down. In the mean-while Alpheaa held au increased advantage over Olaw^on, C*thal, and Rory O'More. At the fence before entering the inner circle, of the racecourse St. Anthony fell, and March Hare slipping up on the Hat, ho -went on riderless to the right. The attendant of Alpheus as he crossed towaids the stands was Clawion, with Father O'Flynn and Why Not in front. Just behind them lay Catlial, Misß B'»roi», and Rory O'More, whilst two feujes from the water Father O'Flynn, The Soarer, Kcilrel, Rory O'More, Why Not, and Cathal were clustered together in pursuit of Alphous, while the brokendown Moriarty had pulled up. Tho water was cleared by Alpheua three or four lengths in advance of Rory O'More, Father O'Flynn, MiHS Baron, and Why Not, and then ca<ne Clawaon, Kestrel, The Soorer, and Biscuit, with Caustic anil Swanshot. Following them i-aina Dollar 11, Cathal, Philactery, Ardc<>rn, and Van der Berg, with WostmeAth last except for Fleetwing, who had broken a blood- vefsel aud was tailed off with MMshipmite. As they turned out of the straight «lpheus bolted and fell on the raiß and Rory O'More then took up the running from w hy a Not and Father O'Flynu, with the second batch now composed of The Soarer, Biscuit, and-KesiTel. At Bsecher'B the second time Swanßhot fell, and failing to extricate himself from danger caused Waterford to share his fata. In the meanwhile Midshipmite had fallen through diEtne3s, and the next quarter of a mile alno sawthe last of Oauhtic, so far as a stand up wss concerned. With Rory O'More and Why Nut side by side at the point just alluded to, their immediate pursuers were Father O'Flynn, Biscuit The Soarer, Earin, and Barcalwbey, whilst in their wake travelled Ardcarn, Cathal, Clawson, and Kestrel. Before reaching the canal Ardcirn shared the fate of-so many others, and Westmeath also civme dovrn, while Dollar 11, who had tailed off, was likewise flo ired at the same point. Just beforehand Clawson was knocked down, and Biscuit led on to the couise from The Soarev, Rory O'More, B ircslwhey, and Fatliur O'Flyun, these beiug . divided by Why Not from Kestrel, C.ifhal, and Ekuiu at widish intervals. Hrro Rory O'More was rabidly Wing ground, and at the stcond fence from home Tbe Soarer ium^ed• a good lenguh quicker t,han Biscuit, vrith Barcalwhay and Father O'Flynu third and fourth fram Rory O'More, Van der Berg, Kestrel, and Cathal. Over the la <t f «nee, there was no material change, and both Biscuit and Barcalvrhey looked like holding places until Father O'Flynn, wide on the stand side, began to draw up again. From the bend, in fact, he was travelling much faster than Ihe Soarer, who managed, nevertheless, to hold his own and struggle past the goal a winner by a length and ahalf; tbe same distance divided second and third, with Ba-calwhey close up fourth, Why Not, 20 lengths behind, fifth, Rory O'More sixth, Kestrel seventh, Cathal eighth, and Van der Berg next, this being the lot that completed the journey. Time, lOmin llisec. Value ot the stakes, JE1975. .
