Tinstream led past the stand, followed by The Merry Boy, Lord Richmond, Duke of Richmond, Warpiint, and Lord Richmond running together. At the mile and a furlong post Trcntham led by three lengths cantering in ftont of the field, attended by The Merry Boy and Duke of Richmond, with Lord Richmond, Warpaint, Miraclum well place!. At the six-furlong post they began to reduce Tienthum's lead, the field closisg up, with The Merry Boy, Warpaint, Mirncluni, and Duke of Richmond all handy. At the turn Trentham, still going well, was in front from Duke of Richmond, whilst The Merry Boy ni&de a great run outside, but fell back. At the distance Trentham looked like winning, but Power making a determined effort with Warpaint, shot '< to the front, Trentham dying away, while Miraclum made a fine run, but failed to catch him, and Warpaint won by a head after an exciting finish, whilst a leigth away came Trentham, third, lim-, 3min 51 4 sscc Dividend, £11 9s.
