WELLINGTON NOTES.
By Onlooker.
May 11. The excitement cf tho week among sporfa who moat do congregate in Willis street has been the unwilling dispersal of kr&rts of bookies from their empire, their untying being due to newspapev agitation. They were going to "do for " the reforming agent, but, judging by street appjarancos they've been "done bad"— fqr which, no one is sorry Human nature always; spoils its ' eoort thing" by making it too conspicuous, not that i, endorse loafing as a good thing. I reckon ther»
- _* should be no bread without work. Toil and Bnjoy your loaf. Is trotting on the go in this district, or is ifc only,, a change of district that is meant by the Sroposal to form a club for the Hdtt and Petono istricts ? Certainly I think it stands a better prospect in therm latter places— a nat'<ral racing district- than in the somewhat outlandish, backblockish Johnson ilie. It is said the Hutt can provide a good trotting tiack, so I gue3s it ought to get a go on the movemont and the pneumatics. If n club would only go in for the making of a goad cinder track, it would attract cyclists for ifci use. Now then, Miramar, ara you there? Are 'J'ou listening?
