ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

Chbistchusch, April 29.

I At 3 a.m. to-day the constable on duty in Cashel i-treet noticed a man in the back yard of the Farmers' Co-operative Association. As , soon as the discovery was made the man, who has only one leg, made off ; but on finding that he was pursued he threatened the constabla I with a tonmhiwjc which he carried. Finally he was arrested and placed in a cell at the lock-up. About half-pa*t 4 o'clock Detective 1 Maddern proceeded to the cell and found the o-oupant hanging by the neck and ou the verge of death. The would-be suicide was promptly cut down and successfully brought back to life. 1 He had tied his braces round his neck and attached ons end to the cell door. The case vra* called on at the Police Court this mornlog, but the prisoner was not in a fib state to appear. >
