Sir, — It Way be of interest to some ef your readers to hear a little of the history of one or the men lately condemned to death at Pretoria— Mr George Howard Farrar. He is a nephew of Sir Frederick Howard," of Bedford, and went to school with the writer at the Commercial School there. In 1879 he *erit out to Port Elizabeth, S A , and sturtr.' with hi« I ro her Sydi-ey as agricultural euginteib, Uie <.•» opening branches of ihf business in .East London, Quoenstowu, and Cra.iock, where the writer -was for some time manager. George was* great runner, although only sft Gin high, and held the quarter-mile championship cup of Gape Colony for some years. In 1886 the firm opened at Johannesburg, and it must be since then that George has made the pile of money he Is said to be worth, as previous to that the firm were by no means wealthy. — I am, &c, Hindon, May 4.
