CLARK'S JUNCTION.

May 9. — We have had bad weathor here for getting in the crops. However, the most of it is in now, and Mr Da»iel He»nan has commenced threshing. The crops are on the whole very good. Messrs Peat Brothers bave had a paiticularly good crop of oata, while Mr A. M'Donald expects to thresh 70 bushels to the acre -not bad for this locality. School Committbb.— The people here turned out a_ little better this year for the annual school election, aud yet there is plenty of room for improvement next year. It is strange that parents do not take more interest in this meeting. The following gentlemen were elected :— Messrs George Nichol (chairman), Foawick (secretary), W. Martin, A. M'Don&ld, and Borwick. County Election.— Mr G. Nichol informs me that he has definitely decided not to seek re-elec-tion as membsr for the Deep Stream riding. Every one will, I am sure, be Sony to hear of this decision, as Mr Nichol has dune more in his three yeara* term of office than was done during the previous 10 years. Thin is well known by those who travel between Outram and Strath Taieri. Over 20 culverts have been put in, b«sidc3 miles of formation being carried out. Mr James Mathesoi, of Hindon, has been aykej to stand for this riding, and has consented to allow himself to be nominated. Although Mr Mutheson resides in one corner of the riding he is near the railway station, and can easily attend the county nietitings, and should he be elected I am sure he i will do his best for the good of the riding. As he has a thorough knowledge of the requirements of the district he should have a good chance of being returned.
