LAND BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday, whea there were present— Messrs W. Dallas (in y the chair), H. Clark, J. Duncan, and A. M'KeriOW.' Valuation for Improvements. — The board authorised the Receiver of L*nd Re> enue to pay over the undermentioned amounts, received aa valuation for improvements :— Section 49, block 111, Lauder, £v 66d 6d ; section 18, block 111, Tautuku, £'i ; section 11, block IV, Upper Taieri, £13; Run 219 c, Nakeby, £45; section 30b'A, Naseby,' £54. Lower Hawea.— An application by Mr T. F. Fiowen to have section (56, block XII, Lower Hftwea, reserved as a site upon which a public well m*y be sunk was con-idered, and it was 1 sgreud to recommend the Government to Ret aside the seetidn as requested. Hyde.— An application by Mr S. J. Currie for a grazing right over tho racecouise reserve, Hyde, "was declined. Moeeaki.— An application by Mr W. Hodgson for a lii-ense to cut timber over five acres in section 15, block XIII, Moeraki, was referred to the ranger to report. Tuapeka. - A letter was read from Mr George Matheson in regatd to his application to surrender his pastoral license over Runs 3, 4, and 6. l'aapeka, and it was decided to forward the application to the Government for their favourable consideration ' Rock and Pillar.— Consideration of au application by Mr Jame3 Highley for leave to acquit c section 26, block I, Rock and Pillar, was de- - ferred. * Kurow.— An application by Mr Thomas Chalmer, on behalf of Mrs Christina Stringer, for a lice&Be to occupy about four aGres fronting section 2, block X, Kurow, and an application, also by Mr Chalmer, on behalf of Mr William Fraser, for a license to occupy about five and a-half acres fronting section 1 iv the same Work, were consideied, and it was agreed in each case to grai.t a yearly license, under causa 116 of the act, at a iental of 2s 6d per acre per annum. Woodland — An application by Mr Arthur John Smyth for section 7, block VIII, WoodUnd, mral land, on the' occupation with right of purchase system, was approved. , Blackstone —An application for the transfer of tbe p> rpetual lease of sections 2, 10, and 13, block XV, Blackatone, from Annie Sptia to Thos. Spain was approved, as \yas also an application for the transfer of the perpetual lease of sections 5, 7, 12, 15, 17, and 20, block XVI, Blackhtone, from Bridget Spain to Thomas Spiin. Forfeiture. Rescinded.— On the report of the receiverof land revenue that Maigaret M'Lenuan, M. B. Neilaftds, James M'Donald, and Joseph Keily, whose holdings had been declared forfeited owing to their non-payment of arrears, had now paid up, the resolution of the pievious metting, having fur its effect the forfeiture of their licenses or leases, was rescinded. Dunkeld —An application by Mr R. M'Cunn for a 1 cense to occupy part of tlie bridge reserve in the towu of Dunkeld was referred to Ranger Huijhan for report. The following sections were received :— Section 75, block VIK, and section 27, block XII, Moeraki, of a total area of 156 alr 20[>, for a limestone quarry ; section 24, block IV, Dunback, 2a 2r lip, for a gravel pit ; and Be.-tion 68, block VIII, 0a 3r 13p ; and section 23, block XV, ,17a' 2r, in the Mot-raid district, for .plantations.
