OTAUTAU.
May 9. — In this district threading, with the exception of those who ate holding till spring, is pretty well finished. Generally speaking, the cereals did not turn out as much as wan anticipated, no doubt owing to the cdld, wet summer ; ► till a few farmers' wheat crops averaged 45 bushel* per acre. Carting grim to the railway stations is in full swing, and the capacity of the g >oda .sheds is tried to its utmost. Ploughing will soon commence, and presumably more land will be cropped this season, prices being so much better than those of Beveral previous yearfl. Weather. — Lately this h»s by no means been all that could be desired, as few dayß pass without some rain, and we have had one or two frosty nights. Still, the g»ass seems to hold its own, and ebeep and cuttle look well. As it is still early in the season, we may look fur some good w< ather beforu winter fairly sets in. v Removal.— Ono of our old identities, Mr Allan Oarmichaisl, has given up his farm at Stratbtuoie, and is leaving this neighbourhood. He holds a clearing sale ot stock, implfineute, Ac., on Wednesday, 13th. iost. icing a public man, and one who has done much for the district, he will be greatly miesed. Ecclesiastical.— The Episcopalians intend to fot m a congregation here, and hold their first service in the hall 'to-moxrow evening, Mr Aehton, lay reader, officiating. Mr Butterfield, their cleigyman, who resides at River ton, will conduct the service himself occasionally.
