KYEBURN.
May 11.— On th« night of Friday, lßt bast., the young ladies of Kyeburu gave a social to their friends of both sexes. The affair took place in Harris's Hall, -which was beautifully decorated for the occaiion, speaking volumes for the artistic taste and skill of the decorators. Music was supplied by Mr D. Douglas (violin), occasionally assisted by one or other of the visitors on the piano Mr D. M'Donald made an efficient M.C. Refreshments were liberally provided at intervals during the night The hall was crowded, and the affair was about the most successful and enjoyable that has taken place here. About 40 couples took part in the grand march, after which song and dance kept tveryone merry until daylight. I must leave the description of the many beautiful dresses worn to one of the gentle- sex. Suffice it to say that all were radiant and na ppy, and that an excellent nighf s enjoyment resulted. Mr A. Beer, on behalf of the bachelors, thanked the young ladies of Eyeburn for the very pleasant night they had spent, and in a few appropriate remarks alluded to the taste displayed by the ladies and the time and labour it must
have entailed in bringing the social to such-t BUceessful iame. Mr William Olunle replied foi the Indies, and in a few humourous remarks alluded to the difficulty he laboured under in saying anything in their behalf, as they were generally credited with having enough to say for them* selved. However, kc asanred them that the pro* motors were delighted to »ea so many present, and hoped th«y had all enjoyed themselves, as they had dme their utmost to enable them .all to do bo, and hoped they would all live to enjoy many more such pleasant evening*. A very agreeable night was brought to a finiih by the singing of 'AuH lang syne" by the entire strength, of the company, as the play bills have it.
