RAILWAY CHARGES.

At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, held on Tuesday, tbe attention of the committee was drawn to an article in the Mount Ida Chronicle with, reference to the high' rates oharged 00 the Ot»go Central railway, and alio to a table comparing those charges with the rates on the Lawrence line, and it nts unanimously resolved — " That it having been brought under the notice of this committee that the railway rates ruling on the Otago Central railway are much in excess of those charged upon similar lines (for example, the Duucdin-Lawrenee), it » resolvsd that the matter be reeoromt-nded for the favourable oon-fcidt-rstion pf the Mint*ter for Railways, with tfce vi*w to having the Dime equitably adjusted) and thai; the secretary be instructed to forward this rw»olutiou (with the eucloted tuble showing the different rates) to the Miniates."
