IMPORTS AND EXPORTS.
The imports iDta Now Zealand during March quarter were £1,712,528, against £1,755,672 in 1895. The exports were £*,327,032, against £3,564,840. The principal increases were in wool, frozen meat, wheat, oats, butter, and gold. Wool shows £2,829,294, against £2,190,902.
An inquiry waa held in Lumsdeu on F*ida.y, before Mr J. W. Foynton, coroner, into the burning of a shop, occupied by Wm. Purdue a« a tailoring and outfitting establishment. The stook was insured in the North German office for £150, and belonged to Mr Purdue The estimates as to the value of the stock varied a good deal. The jury returned a verdict that there br no» evidence as to the origin of the fee,
