ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
Temuka, May 1. Mr Lindsay, in the employ of Messrs Ross and Glendining, who has been staying with his wife and father-in-law at the Crown Hotel, Temuka, attempted to commit suicide about 1 p.m. to-day by cutting his throat. He was with bis wife upstairs when the rash act was attempted, and her screams brought assistance) ju&t in time- to prevent its accomplishment De Hayes wat quickly in attendance and dresied the wound, whioh, though serious, is not likelf to prove fatal. Mr Lindsay had been somewhat despondent of late, although, so far as is known, there wfo so reason for his being so.
