A BOOTMAKERS' STRIKE.

Sydney, April 22.

Trouble is threatened in the boot trade. After an informal conferenca of delegates representing the Boot Trade Union and the Manufacturers' Association it was notified that, as the union had failed to Indco? nonunion masters to employ men at the recognised statement of wages, the existing statement and union be no longer roccgnised. April 24. A meeting of the Bootmakers' Union yesterday decided that, failing the masters granting them a conference, there be a general strike on Tuesday morning. Tha masters continue firm and show no siga of receding, so that there is every prospect of a strike. April 27. A meeting of the Bootmakers' Union decided to oall out in the morning all the men in the factories where the masters have not noHfisd their intention to continue working under the present statement. About 1500 will be affected.
