GOLD IN NEW GUINEA.

Mr B. Q. Braddon has returned from New Guinea, where, with a large party of Barepeana, he spent several month* prospecting. He states tbat be found alluvial gold in considerable quantities in the basics of the fchrea principal rivers, and also that there is a large area of auriferous countrjr. In four month* be obtained 48os, of which 28 oe were t ecured last week. The remainder of the time was ohieflr devoted to exploring. Though gold exists in large quantities, Mr Braddon Bays that owing to the density of tbe scrub, want of roads, and thai high cost of supplies and carriage it would 1 hardly pay to work at present, bat if th« country were anything like opened' up it, would make all th« differtnoe. The majority of th« part; considered; the outlook, even at present, so< good that they hare returned.
