GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS.
Messrs Donai.tj Reid and Co. report tbat prices ruled as under at their auction sale yesterday :—: — Oats. — A brisk demand wp.j experienced, and a further rise of Jd per bushel may be reported, j We sold : Seed sort*, up to Is 101 d; milling and ; best, feed, Is 7|d to la BJd ; medium, Is 7dtols 7H per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.— We sold medium velvet at 3s 6d ; good Tuscan, 3s 4d to 3s s£d j fowl feed, 2a lOd to 3a Id per bushel (sacks in). B«ley. —No prime barley sold. Feed and milling, 2a 3d to 2s 44 per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoe?.— A fair quantity forward, and prices somewhat easier. Best Derwenta, £2 10s to £2 15s ; medium, £2 5% to £2 10a per ton (sacks in). Chaif.— No prime quality offered. Good oaten sheaf, £2 7s 6d to £2 10s per ton (sacks extra). The Mutual Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) repoit that prices ruled as undtr at their weekly auction sale yesterday ;— Oats.— Bidding was quite as keen an last week, and prices are if am thing ft eliatle firmer. Our beat lots to-day brought Is 8d to Is BJd (one or two small lots more money) ; inferior to medium, Is 6Jd to Is 7<W. Wheat.— Competition was barely as good as last week, and prices obtained show a slight decline. Our bfst samples sold at : For velvet, 3s 6Jd ; Tuscan and red sorts, 3a 3d to 3a 4d ; inferior to medium, 2a lid to 3s 2d.
Barley.— Medium quality is in over-supply, and sales are hard to make even at a reduction on late rates. We bad no prime lines, and prices ranged from 2s Id to 2s 9d.
Potatoes.— Supply in excess of demand, resulting in lower prices. Best, £2 ]23 to £2 Us medium, £2 6« to £2 10s. Chaff.— Market is firm for prime quality, but medium is difficult to placo. Best, £2 1& 6d to £2 IS) ; medium, 403 to 455. Tub Farmers' Agency Company (Limited report that prices ruled as follows at th-3 grain and produce sal- s held yesterday :—: — ' Oats in brink demand, and prices showed an advance of Jd per bushel on last week's quotations. Best brought from Is 8d to Is BJd ; medium, Is 7d to Is 7|d ; inferior, Is 6'l to Is 6id per bushel.
Wheat— Best vefvef; sold at 3* fjd ; Tuscan and red straw, from 3t> 4d to 3-> 5d per bushel. Barley. — Only medium. Inferior satnplea offered, for which there was very little competition.
Potatoes.— Market rather easier. Best brought from £2 15 ito £2 17s 6d ; medium, £2 10a to £2 12a «d. Chaff Jn good demand, but prices show a decline of 2« 6d per ton. Be3t sold from £2 7s 6d to £2 10s ; medium, £2 5s per ton.
