PORT CHALMERS.

A meeting of the Port Chalmers committee was held in the Council Chambers on Thursday evening ; present — His Worship the Mayor (Mr B. G Allen), Captain MCaHum, Messrs C«ok, Hunter, Neui, J. Wataon, juu , Lea<sh, Sharpe, gUmpson. It was resolved that the amounts caHf-cted ba paid into the National Bi.nk, and paid to the chairman of the Greymouth committee after the 30th inst., aud the chairman, treasurer, and seoretary were appointed a committee to finally wind up the affairs. At the last committee meeting of the Brunner relief fuod notice of motion was given to the following tff'ct : — " That in iha opinion of this committee a meeting of representatives of the various committees throughout tbe colony be held in Wellington at the time of tiie Municipal Conference to appoint trustees for the Brunner relief fund and adopt an equitable plan of distribution. This to be wired' by the secretary to the various centres, and brought up for consideration at the next meeting of committee." Since then replies have been received approving of the above from the Mayors of Auckland, Timaru, Napier, Hokitika, Oatnaru, Christchurch, and Greymouth. It was decided to close the subscription lists upon the 30th April. A meeting of the Brunrer Relief Fund Committee was held at the Town Hall on Friday afternoon. The following resolution, of which notice had been given, was carried unanimously :— " That in the opinion of this committee a meeting of representatives of the various committees throughout the colony be held in Wellington at the time of the Municipal Conference to appoint trustees for the Brunner relief fund and adopt an equitable plan of distribution. This is to be wired by the secretary to the various centres and brought up for coneider*tion at the next meeting of cofcmifcfceo." The treasurer reperted that, exclusive of a further amount on the Otago Daily Time* Hst, the total collpotiona to date were £2105 0i 2d, of which £1600 had been placed on deposit. The secretary reported that a cum of about £20 colleoted at St. Olsir by the Invereargill Garrison Band had been taken by tbe bandmaster to luvercftrgill and paid into the fund there. It was decided th«.t collectors should be asked to send in their lists and the amounts collected on or before the 30fch April.
