The population ef Wellington, exclotnve ol those on shipboard, is 37,432, as compared with 31,021 in 1891. The number aboard ships was 525, against 669 five ye*re ago.
Additional borough returns t Linwaod, 6113 ; St. A.Lbau»,Wßo; Akaroa, 613. (All these «bow an incietse, that of being 1533.) Birkenbead, 690,; New Plymouth, 3825,; Kaiapoi, 1824; Marton 1150.; Falmerston North, 5886 ; So..th I&veroargill, 1886 ; East Invercargill, 934 ; NaseVr, 44.7. Falmerston North shows an increase of 1583. All the rest -ihovr an increase except Naseby,, whioh has igone back 49. New Tly mouth and Kaiapoi have extended their houndariM sinoß 1894. Counties : Fatangata, 2365 j Bast Taupo 237— an increase in each case.

The population of 'Wynubam (Sootl> land) was 482 .against 405 ia .1891, and 4ufl tpopidtlfioß of *he roau district 316.
