NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.
The annual meeting of tbe New Zealand Rugby Union was held fit Wellington l.*efc Saturday night, Mr G. F. Campbell (vice-president) being in the chair. The report and balance sheet were adopted. It waa decided ►to again ask his Ercel'ency th.9 Governor to accept the office of patron of the union. Tho election of the remaining officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes (Osntorbury) ; vicepresidents — Messrs J. H. Hankins (Manawata), Moss Jonas (Soubh Canterbury), W. Empson (W*nganul), G. H. Boyd (Went Coasfc), C. Norfchcote (Southland), A. W. Rees (Poverty Bay), J. Snodgrass (Marlborongh), G. S. Ktssling (Auckland), J. M. Gallaway (Ot^go), G. F. Campbell (Wellington), G. B. Harden (Buller), E. F. Bayly (Teranaki), F. Log*n (Hawke's Bay) ; hon. secretary, Mr A, M. Do Cost a ; Assistant hon. eearetAr/, Mr E. Batchelor ; hon. treasurer, Mr I. Hysnw ; Appeal Committea—Tflegers Henderson (Auckland), Logan {Hawke's Bay), Firth aud Campbell (Wellington), *nd Hutchison (Obsgo;) ; Mauagflmeiit Oormnittie — Messrs Bate, Bee, M'Cardel!, Wesnwfr, Lautenson, M'Lean. The commi'.tee were instructed to arrange a match New Zealand v. Qae«nsl&nd. It was decided that it bo an instruotion to the committee to arrange for a conference of refereas, to be held in Wellington on May 25. It was decided that the North and South 1 Bland match, be played this year.
The Treasurer SDnouGCf d that the affiliated nnions had contributed a sum o? 26gs towards a testimonial to Mr E. D. Hobeo, late hon. secretary, and it was decided that the testimonial should he a parse of sovereigns, to be accompanied by s> letter.
It was stated that the affiliated unions had decided upon tho following visits during Ihe coming season : — Canterbury to visit Wellington ; Southland to play at Dauedin and Christchurch and possibly at Wellington ; West Coast to play Nelaon and possibly Wellington ; South Canterbury to play Canterbury j W*llingtou to visit Napier andpoafcibly Man&wata, Taranaki and Auckland ; Taranaki to visit Auckland and Wanganui; Wanganm to visit Rangitikei ; Bullcr to visit Nr-lsou.
It wan resolved tnat no union affiliated to the New Zealand Union whose subscriptions and dues are not paid by the l«t of July in each year shall be allowed to shave any vote or voice at any meeting of the New Zealand Union until »U arrears are paid.
The following notices of motion were given :— Mr Bate : " T/iat the rules as to professionalism and delegation of powers which may from time to tfnsa be mado appUoable to tihe English Rugby Union shall, foutatis mutandis, Apply to the Ne* Zealand Rugby Union," Mr Ronaldson: " That the Committee of Management consist; of seven member*, to be elected »t "the annual meeting of the ooancil, with the efficore to aot eg officio, fiv« to be a quorum."
