-HUNTINGy DUNEDIff HOUNDS.
The weather -was .certainly all that could b« desired for the fixture on Saturday afternoon at Scaview, and the ground was also in perfect going order, so grumbler* had to ea*t -aboat for some other cause of discontent. Tnis was found la the misbehaviour of gome of their mounts, as the fences were stiff and some of the horses were out of practice, and perhaps the same might be said of a few of the riders, •pill* being rather numerous, showing in natkt-d contrast to the ewe with which the Halfway Bush country was orgofcinted last Saturday, and that strong post andrails'require cle*Q jumping *nd liberties taken with such sort of' obstacles are *pi to lead to disaster. The attendance at the meet was numerically very strong, whilst there was more than the usual percentage of followers. Amongst thoee who c*me auder my observation were: x- The master, Mr H. Gonriey, jun., on bis cheiatnut; Sir livid, the trusty K^lly ; Mr Siss, Wait-Jingi ; IfrM'Kay, Young D:gby;-Mr M K«chnie, Mick; Mr Baird, Dunblane: Mr F. Lainff, Wild Irishman; Mr A. Godfrey, the Pony ; Mr >T. -Godfrey, Dandy; Mr C. Newman, Silvertail; Mr O'Connell, Frremtson; Mr T. I>adham, Honesty; Mr M'Kewen, juo., K-thU>en; Blv Rifchie, Duudas; Mr Roberts, Normniirty; Mr Fraser, Woolsack; F. Smith (huut*m»n), Duur»vm*, J. Driving were : Mrs Silk, daughter, and friends in a waggonette and pair of horses; Mrs Myers trod lady friend, carriage- and pair of ponies; Mr Duoflas and Mr Wrighfc, horAe «.nd gig; Mr S. Gaarlcy had charge of. a family p»rty in a cQmraodiou* drag with a pair of horjes. Previous to laying the drag a photograph was takes by Mr Armntrong of the pack and members of the hunt, after which the hounds were laid on. The first fence.of the treble at Mr M'Giegor's homestead was the scene of some confusion owing to a horse ■lipping into a ditch and causing several of tbe lenders to baulk, Hone»ry '(ridden by Mr Leadbiun) here asserted her claim as a < fck*»nj>ion jumper by giving the field a lead over the ti*ble and into the grass paddock of Mr Sidey's, where Dunblane slipp^ into a fence tad fell, his rider sustaining no injury. Young Dishy abo came down with Mr M'Kay, but was S3uo remounted and in purxuifc. One or two of tha redcoats were also in trouble, their horses not jumping at ail kindly. Th» district road, here crossed twice, it protected by a double. The hounds by this time had rather a long stare_fr<m the foremost o£ tie field, which included Mr Leadham on Honesty, the huntsman on Duuraven, Mr O'Connell on Freemason, Mr M'Kay on Young Digby, Mr Sise on Wailaagl, and the brothers Godfrey on their rrsp>*ctiv« mounts. At one of these feaces Mr A. Godfrey's The Pony ml, scratching Mr Godfrey* face and damaging herself * little. Mr T. Godfrey, on the clever Dandy, followed suit, getting a clean capsize. The run was j shortly after finished at Beaview, the field £ni*hing in much the same order as stated —' •tbpee thrown out getting in by two's and three's. After a spell the Jiouads were again laid.on, and a gpod ran resulted, the hories takifg to their work much better—the only spill noticeable being Mr Roberta on Norxn*ndy, who made a mistake at one of the Ledges, but with no damage. Close in attendance to the huntsman and whip at the finish were Mr M'Kfehoie on Mick, Mr' Sise on "Waitungi, Mr Reid on .Kelly, Mr Lang on Wild Irishman, iha Godfrey brothers, Mr O'Connell; on Ffemauon, aitd Mr M'Kewen on Kathleen, who fenced remarkably well. Another photograph was then taken of the pack and membens, after which a move was made homewaids. NIMEOO.
