Christchurch, April 27. Several telegrams htve been pusing between trotting olub authorities in Christcharch and those in Hawke's Bay respecting a mare which ran at a race meeting in the latter province under the name of Cliv*, but which the Canterbury trotting officials allege is the mare Fiona, This morning the officials of the loo»l trotting clubs sant the following telegram to Napier : — " We beg to confirm telegram sent on Saturday. We had suspicions that Fiona was in your district about a month Ago. Daniel Munro, trainer and lessee of mare, was given three days in which to produce her, but failed to do bo, although he persistently stated that she was still in his possession. We strongly urge that criminal proceedings be taken against all parties concerned for false representation with intent to defraud. Clubs here ace determined at all hazards to put tha law into motion at fir»t opportunity. Public and healthy sportsmen demand protection. Unhealthy must be quarantined."
