WAIKAIA.

April 14.— We have had dry weather for several weeks, the we'ls all bsing empty and the miners idle. A temperance me eting was held on Friday, at which Miss Mathesoh was chairwoman. At the conclusion of the address a number of questions wete asked and satisfactorily answered Mr Rproat proposed a vote of thunks, and Mr David*on seconded the motion. Mr A. R. Kobson proposed a vote of thanks and. confidence, seconded by Mr Handyside. About 18 hands were held up for the amendment and only five for the motion, so that a vote of thanks and confidence was pasaod. Concert.— A. concert will ba held on Thursday, 23rd mst , in aid of the Brunner relief fund, ana it will almost certainly be a great ►u^cpss. The sad calamity has awakened deep feelings of sympathy in this as in every district in the colony.
