Otago Chess Club.
The annual meeting of the Otago Chess Glub was held m the clubroom oo Monday, 13th. There were 25 members present, and Mr Sim occupied the chair. The annual report, which appeared last week, was, on the motion of the Chairman seconded by Mr J. Edwards, carried unanimously. A considerable amount of business was got through during the evening, and it was resolved,
after lengthy discussion— -"That a speotal meeting of th« members be called at an early data to consider the matter of registering the club under u The Unclassified Societies Refutration Act 1895." It was also agreed— "That it iff the opinion of this meeting that a smoke conceit be held at an early date, and a' picnic during the summer, aud that it be left to the incoming committee to carry out details." The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing term :— President, Mr H. J. Cleland; vice-presidents, Mr T. Brown and Rev. Bryan M. King; hon. secretary, Mr A. R. Barclay; hon. treasurer, Mr T. Johnstone (re-elected) ; committee—Messrs A. M 'Donald. 0. Balk, R. A. Cleland, R. W. Clarkson, L. Warsaw, and W. Da we ; auditor, Mr G. S- Reeves.
A vote of thanks to the retiring officers was carried unanimously.
