LINNBURN.

April 13.— A dance was given on the evening of Friday, 10;h, by permission of Mr and Mrs Turnbull, to the employees of Linoburn and their friends. In response to the invitations of Misses Wall, Healy, and Boyd, about 25 couples assembled in the station hall, where a very enjoyable night was spent until the company broke up ~jttsa.ni. The room looked pretty with decorations of flowers and greenery tastefully arranged by the Linnburn- ladies, particularly noticeable being a " Welcome " worked with pleasing effect in ferns against a white^round by Miss Haggit. During tho evening Mr Hugh Anderson sang a comic song, "The Bobby," Miss Katie Jenkins rendered a ballad in a peculiarly sweet voice, and Miss Jenkins sang " Robin Adair." Mr R. MaeShimming recited in his well-known effectivemanner the Australian racing ballad, " Pardon the Sou of Reprieve." The music was supplied by Mr T. "fate (violin), F. Schriek, J. Herlihy, and Mr J. M'Kay (bagpipes). An excellent supper waa provided, for which much praise is due to Mr.Fred Turner, who with the assistance of the ladie«, supplied the repast. Among those present were Mr and Mr 3 Turnbull and family, Messdames Craig, Schriek, Munay, »nd Tate ; Misses Haggit, Hall (2), Herliby (2), Jenkins (3), Tannahill (8), Pearson, and Chirnside ; Messrs W. Murray (M.C.), M. M'Farlane, J. Craig, W. Craig, R. MacSkiniming, C. J. Annett, H. Biinsell, W. Hall, A. Hall, T. Adam, M. Cojan and several others.
