October 15 —We had a welcome shower last night, which has made things look a bit fresher. For about a fortnight we have bad very high wind«, and vegetation suffered considerably in consequence. Mimng.— The deep sinking is still to the front in gold production. Bradley, Thomas, and party, ftfter doing a considerable amount of sinking and driving, are on exoellent gold, having washed at much as 4oz to the load. Kelly is still getting rood gold, and is about to put in a fresh tunnel. Mathewson, Snushall, and party ara making thinga pay. Ths Mount Highlay battery is at work, and all the sluicing cUims are busy.
