OWAKA.
1 OcrOBCR 14.— The election for the vacancy i ciusod by the death of our local county councillor 1 is now over. Mr Frederick Bradficld, ofTahatika, 1 has been returned by a majority of 18 over his opponent, Mr Alexander Clark Saunderß, of Owaka. Mr Bradfield has been in the Clutha County Council before, and so far as I am aware during his term of office he gave satisfaction to kis constituents. The fact of his beiug a tried man gave him an advantage over his opponent, who nevertheless pulled well, the figures boiug (J8 for Bmdtteld and 50 for Saun-Jcrs.
