FOBTOBELLO ROA D BOARD.

At the ordinary meeting of the Portobello Road Board, held on the 2*>th ult., an opinion was read from Messrs Stout, Mondy, and Sim, to the effect that the board had no power to grant differential rates at the toll.—The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Moss requesting him to pay the toll for passing through ou hia bicycle recently, or proceedings would te tsken against him. The tender of Messrs Rodger Bros., for removing tho slip on the upper Main road, was accepted. The inspector was authorised to see to thu matter of repairing the road to Mr A. Walker's property, and permibsion was granted to Mr Thomas Holloway to erect a gate ou tho Helinaborough township road. The board refused to clean out tho ditch opposite the ftehool glebe, Hooper's Inlet, as requested by Mr Kelhw, as th^y considered it was the School Committee's duty to do the work. Accounts amouutingto £17 3a Gd were passod for payment.
