An Order- ia-Counc'l rotiflea that the following regulations shall have effect in tha br&ckuh waters of Canterbury aud in the whole of the Tf&tBTB of the W»«b»ki river, and shall supersede all rognUtion? respecting tbe nets to be used for taking whitsbait heretofore in force so far »s that provincial district is concerned :— (1) No fcriin or wbitcb&it net th&\\ be üb«<J, Bet, or be set or placed in cpenh'gs made in the b&nka of the rivers or streams or in dams oonstrutted therein within tbe provincial district of Canterbury or of any or the waters o£ Waitaki river, »nd no scrim hand-not having au opening of more than nine pqnare feet chall be used for the pu'pose of catching wbitebait ; (2) any person coa>mittiug a breaoh of the regulations is liable to a penally of not less than £1 and not exceeding £20 ; (3) nothing m these regulations is to bo deemed to affect the eperalbn of any regulations for the time being in force under " The Fi^heriea Conservation Act 1884 " in relation to the taking or fishing for salmon or trout in the stid rivers. Mr Forbes Burn is appointed inspector under •'The Dairy Industry Act 189*." A despatch under " The (Imperial) Colonial Boundaries Act 1894 " is gnzetted. Au Imperial volunteer officer's decoration has been issued to Lieutenant-colonel Alexander Crowe. The Gazette draws attention to the sub« section of section 11 of "The Dairy Industries Act 1894 " which is now in force. The subsection in question deals with the export of bubter and cheese and its grading. Mr R 8. Bush, S.M , is gazetted warden for the Hauraki mining disfcriofc. The arrivals in the colony for August number 1420 peraons, while there were 1415 departures. Twenty Chinese arrived and Qve departed.
