Notes from Lyell. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
Lvell, September 27. ' Lysll Creek.— The manager reporta : "The main lovd north has been driven 10ft, makiug tho total length 99ft. The reef continues to be of Urge size, the drive being 7ft wide and no sign of the hanging wall. The stone is clean, of a kiadly nature for carrying gold, but so far there is no improvement in the quality. I intend shortly, if no change takes place, to put a small cror scut In the hanging wall to see if there is better gold on that side of the rcrf."
The manager for the Cocksparrow dredge reiports for the week a3 follows:— "On Saturday last we finished cleaning out our old paddork, und for the week wo have dredged 90 Jioun. We were detained one day for coal. The grouud is still very rough, and so far I have not been able to get the bottom. Most of the ground we have worked this week has bean worked before to a depth of about 4ft. The return for the week is 26"0z J2dwt amalgam."
