OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY.
A special meeting of the committee of the Obago Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held at the secretary's office on Saturday morning, and attended by Mestrs James Smith (vice-president, in the chair), BrydoDe, Gow, M'Farlane, W. D. Stewart, Ferguson, Duthie, Toggart, Campbell, J. A. Stewart, Angus, Wright, Reid, Stronach, Sinclair, P*(rick, und Shield. Af er di-posiufl; of a considerable amount of correct ondfiico, the schedule of classes for competition a*; the annual summer and winter chows was considered, and some additional classes were added. It was decided to devote £12 10s to be awarded to the largest prize-t»kera iv the grnio, Btods, and roots clams for farmers only, and ulso for tho best and moßb comprehensive collection of farm and dairy produce exhibited by any farmor or county ; and the action of the ProgiMinKie Committee in awarding prizes in all clnf&-8 for farmers was confirmed. The lirt of judges nominated was read by the secretary, and several names were added to take the place of any of those nominated who may be unable to attend. A cub-committee wa9 appointed to draw up coQcHu'oQß for the best fiAdn of turnips from live to ten acres and from 10 acres upwa r ds, and to allot the special pr'z'-s awarded by Me-crsNimnio and Blair, Tothill, Watson, and Co., and D. Reid and Co. as agents for the Isliugton fertilise! s. Tho ooiid'tions for the best managed farm were nppioved, and Mr P Pattullo (inspector for the New Zenland and Australian Land Company) was appointed judgo. He will vittib aU farms enU-red in December or early in January, and tbe tbrte Usl farms iv each class will again be inspected, and an extra judge arsocinted with Mr Pattullo. The maximum number of points allowed is as follows: — Cleanliness of land, freedom fr< m weeds, gorsp, &c, 14 points ; Btate of pasturte, suit-ible grasses, clover, &c , 14; grain, root crops, dairying, &c., 14; stock, good of their kind and well look-d after, 15 ; gate*, culverts, drains, di'che*, hedges, all iv order, 9 ; building*, suitable and in good oider, 6 ; implements, well kept and suitable for work, 6 ; economy shown in utilising watte products, manures, &c , 6 ; general and profitable manageoitnt of fnrm, 16. Collectors we-e then appointed for the various dici.'icts.
