Can't Depend on Them.
" You ssk me whother I would prefer to hive to deal with men or with women," said a well-known detective the other day. "Well, I have no difficulty iv answering that question, and I can a*«ure you I would much rather have to d"al professionally with men. " You pee you never know what a woman is going to do next. You can judge, moro or leap, of ttie probable action of the man by rf a=«onrag the matter out. When there is a woman in the case, however, uo ordinary rults arc applicable. "I have had some extraordinary experiences, for inßtacce, in cases where women bave been victimistd and robh*d by swindlers who havo mnde love to them. In her first outburst of indignation & woman is frequently mesb keen on having the mau caught and punished. Then when the toils are dusing rouud the swindler, and his arrt-st is almost cci tain, there comes a revulsion of fe«ling, aud nothing on earth can persuade tho woman to give «ny further assistance towards bringing the follow to book. "No ; much as I admire the fair Bex in a general way, I certainly don't care to have much to do with them in my professional capacity."
