September 23.— Mr Jock Scott : I see bylatt week's meeting of tho Anglers' Association they give the Wmkoiuiti river a bad came. Only two came to the contest here, and they got no fish. There wers plenty oi fi->h here. I came down at 5 30, and took out three fish weighing 161b. The river is in good trim this season, with plen'y of fi«h in the lower part, also a good few in the north brunch. The natives cleared them pre'ty well all out of the south branch. A friend tells me there are plenty in the Shag tbid year.— Old Si'ORT.
