Mr Herbert Phillips, Wellington, New Zealand, who writes on July 25, 1894 : — "For many years I have been a thorough martyr to bronchitis. I have consulted and been treated by various medical men of ability, but to no purpose. I have during the last two weeka resorted to Clements Tonic, and am now feeling something like myself again. I am indeed grateful to the kind friend who recommended the above certain relief to me.— Yours gratefully, Herbarfa Phillips, Wellington, New Zealand."
<- Mr Robert Pate, whose will, amounting to £22,464, haa jast been proved, was formerly an officer in the army, and wiw sentenced to seven years' trtniportation for striking the Quenti in the fBC3 with a stick in 1850. The blow crushed the bonnet the Queen wa3 wsaring, and inflicted a severe bruise on her forehead. VThe flitch of bacon was claimed by three married conples with time-honoured ceremony before a large concourse of people at Dunmow on August 5. Sergeant-major Baker, a Yea* man of the Guard, and his wife were the flrsfc successful applicants ; while Mr and Mrs John" eon, of Market Harbo rough, and Mr and Mii Clongh, of Nwwush. »Lao took the oath *nd. &* bacon*
